Lemonade Stand Benefits Local Children

Colton Schroeder, age 10, sets up his lemonade stand for charity.

Ten–year-old Colton Schroeder has big plans, and an even bigger heart. This past May, he decided to participate in Lemonade Day for the second year in a row. Lemonade Day is a program that teaches kids how to turn their dreams into a business plan. Its goal is to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs. The program teaches kids how to set up their own business, a lemonade stand, and motivates them to become active members of society. Colton’s stand, Squeeze Me, included his signature strawberry lemonade, a fun photo area, games, popcorn, and served many customers!

With the profit that each child makes, they are encouraged to spend a little, save a little, and share a little. Colton spent a little of his Lemonade Day earnings and bought himself a pogo stick, but he also decided to share a lot. His lemonade stand benefited not one, but two different groups of local children. With the money raised from his lemonade stand, he decided to buy 30 Kohl’s Cares stuffed animals. Colton purposely chose Kohl’s Cares because he knew that 100% of proceeds benefit children’s health initiatives nationwide. Kohl’s Cares items sold in the greater San Antonio area benefit The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

Colton wanted his actions to directly impact his community, so he  donated the stuffed animals to his local Boerne Police Department asking the officers to give them to children that they see on calls. Over 50 kids participated in Lemonade Day in Boerne this year, but many people came to Colton’s stand because they admired his mission to help children.

Thank you for your support, Colton! Your generous heart is inspiring and will help provide hope and healing for our children.

Colton plans on participating in Lemonade Day again next year. You can learn more about Colton’s story, and how he will give next year by liking his Facebook page Squeeze Me.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this story. I am so blessed to have such a caring grandson . The first time I met Colton is when my son , Andrew introduced me to his girlfriend, Coltons mom , JoAnn. We met going to downtown San Antonio to feed the homeless . Colton was only 4yrs old, but was helping hand out food and reaching out to everyone he met. From this first meeting I knew what a special blessing this young boy was to all who met him.
