Happy 4th Birthday, Marcus!

Today, we celebrate the best boy who has ever walked the halls of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, Marcus! Although his real birthday is the 4th of July, a special birthday celebration will be held today in his honor with all of his closest friends.

We are paws-itively grateful to our donors, Teammates for Kids and Hope Hits Harder Cancer Foundation, for funding such an invaluable, huggable, loveable service for our kids! Marcus joined our incredible Child Life team in November of 2020, and has been making everyone smile ever since.

”Marcus just has a way of connecting with our patients and their families. He brings joy and some happy distractions during their hospital stays with us,” said Allison Sharawi, Marcus’s handler/facility dog coordinator.

Although Marcus is only four years old, he’s practically an adult in dog years! That explains why he is wise beyond his years. Marcus spends his days with his handler, Allison, stopping by to see patients who may need a friend or an extra snuggle. The emotional support Marcus is able to provide our patients and their families can be felt and seen throughout the halls of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

If you happen to see Marcus while visiting The Children’s Hospital, be sure to ask Allison for some hand sanitizer so you can stop and give him some big birthday belly scratches!
