On Wednesday, November 3, the Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation had the pleasure of gathering together in the St. Rose Hall of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Medical Center (CSRH-MC) to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the hospital opening its doors. Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller and Father Casmi Dike, Staff Chaplain Priest, presided over the celebratory Mass of Thanksgiving.
We are honored to celebrate 35 years of life-saving care provided by the talented and caring team of clinicians, administrators, and Associates at CSRH-MC. The care provided each day at CSRH – MC truly exemplifies our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, which began 152 years ago with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Many CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Associates attended, including some of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word who were present at the opening of the hospital in 1986. Joining us to commemorate this occasion were Sister Estella Flynn, former chief nursing officer, Sister Margaret Mannion, former social worker director, Sister Rosita Hyland, former assistant administrator and current Sister volunteer visitor, Sister Corine Walsh, former mission integration, and Sister Michele O’Brien, former director of outreach and current philanthropy officer for the Friends Foundation. Also present were Doctor Pariac Mulgrew, who was the medical director and founder of the transplant service in the 90s and Peggy De La Pena, RN, founder of the palliative care program, and many more.
Through the generosity of our donors and community, the Friends Foundation has supported innovative and compassionate care at CSRH – MC over the years. Most recently in October 2020, philanthropy was instrumental in the completion of a new, state-of-the-art oncology unit that provides access to exceptional cancer care for our community and surrounding counties.
The last 35 years have been full of hope, excitement, success, and many accomplishments. Join us in celebrating this milestone and ensuring the continued care by making a donation today at FriendsFoundation.org/donate.
