Unrestricted Possibilities

Your Donations Go Where They Are Needed Most

In August 1987, tragedy struck the Peacock family. Michael Peacock was leaving Michigan, where he was visiting his brother, Brock. Michael boarded a flight back home to Phoenix when the airplane suddenly went down 14 seconds after takeoff. The entire crew, 148 out of 149 passengers, and two pedestrians on the ground perished in the crash. Michael left behind his wife, Catherine, and two daughters, nine-year-old Lisa and twelve-year-old Amy. Two years later, the settlement came through, and the remaining family members decided to use the money for something good. It was then that the Michael M. Peacock Foundation was born.

Based on the sole purpose of helping others, the Michael M. Peacock Foundation began donating to non-profits in 1989. When Brock Peacock moved to San Antonio in 2002, he decided to give back to his new community.

A few years passed and Brock began a search for the next non-profit he would contribute to. A quick internet search led Brock to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation.

“I quickly fell in love with San Antonio. It’s a beautiful city with wonderful people,” said Brock Peacock, president of the Michael M. Peacock Foundation. “I choose to give to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio because it is a worthy cause that I can feel good about.”

To Brock, giving back to others comes naturally. He recognizes the needs of people who are just like him.

“When I decided to give an unrestricted gift to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation, it was the easiest decision I had to make. I trust the people deep in the work to decide where my donations will go, and where it will make the biggest impact. Look at what they have already accomplished,” said Brock.

Unrestricted funds are donations The Children’s Hospital may use for any purpose – normally going towards the greatest need.

Child Life intern, Madeline, and Child Life specialist, Allison, stepped into a playroom to place an IV into a stuffed animal, which would later be used to help prepare a patient to have his IV removed. A plaque outside this playroom honors the Michael M. Peacock Foundation.

He added, “I encourage anyone who is considering donating to visit the facility and see it for yourself. I am in awe of their accomplishments these last few years. The creation of the prayer gardens, Goldsbury Foundation Culinary Gardens, and the Culinary Health Education for Families (CHEF) program will continue to do incredible things for the kids, their families, and their overall well-being.”

The Michael M. Peacock Foundation has donated more than $70,000 since 2014 through a legacy gift in honor of Barry W. Peacock and unrestricted donations. In 2019, The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio dedicated a plaque in honor of the Michael M. Peacock Foundation outside of a playroom on the 10th floor.

“Giving to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio is one of the most rewarding parts of my life,“ said Brock. “I know the gifts we make are impacting the lives of the children in our community, and that is what matters the most to me.”
