Spooky season is here! Now through October 31, Spirit of Children is collecting funds at local Spirit Halloween locations to support the Child Life department at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio! Customers have the opportunity to make $1 or $2 donations at check-out.
With the help of the Child Life specialists, who are professionally trained in child development and special education, children can better understand their treatment plan and why they are in the hospital. The Child Life Department at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio creates an environment designed to ease children’s fears and provide the important emotional and social care to make the hospital experience as pleasant as possible for both the child and the family.
As Halloween approaches, Spirit of Halloween volunteers will host a party at the Children’s Hospital to deliver costumes and treats to help our patients have a spook-tacular Halloween.
Since 2007, Spirit of Children has raised $55 million to provide Child Life funding for art, music, therapy programs, as well as the purchase of educational items and toys used for distraction during medical procedures (and so much more!) at children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada.
