In 1869, 150 years ago, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa was founded by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. This year, we celebrate our 150th anniversary by establishing the 1869 Society.
At CHRISTUS Santa Rosa, philanthropy is very much a part of our culture and ministry. Each hospital we serve is greatly impacted by philanthropy. The funds raised through the 1869 Society benefit innovative programs, services, equipment, and more, at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospitals – Medical Center, Alamo Heights, New Braunfels, Westover Hills, and The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

Through the efforts of volunteer leaders throughout CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System, Associates were encouraged to engage their peers to contribute to the Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation or The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation through the 1869 Society, formerly known as the Associate Giving Campaign. The leaders of all campuses went above and beyond their everyday work to help grow the 1869 Society.
From funding wireless fetal monitors at Westover Hills, to supporting the Emergency Department renovation at Medical Center, and even contributing to the Child Life program at The Children’s Hospital, Associates have played a major role in making CHRISTUS Santa Rosa hospitals what they are today.
From March 11 through April 12, 2019, over 600 Associates, alongside the Philanthropy Council, raised over $215,000 which will be gifted back to the Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation or The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation to impact our hospitals.
Thank you to all of our incredible and hard-working Associates. Because of your passion for the people in our community, we may continue our work to ensure the best care available. Together, we are building our future.
