If you’ve visited The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation and Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation office in the last 26 years, you were likely greeted by the same woman each time: the one and only Mrs. Barbara Hill.
Since joining the team on December 13, 1993, Barbara has been the smile greeting donors and guests behind the front desk and the driving force of love behind our entire team.
Barbara’s journey with CHRISTUS began in 1959, when she worked for two “Sister Administrators” of Santa Rosa Hospital – Sister Mary Vincent O’Donnell and Sister Angela Clare Moran. After 10 years with the Sisters, Barbara’s husband, Dan, completed his master’s degree, which prompted a move to California.
Several years later, Dan and Barbara returned to Texas, more specifically, to San Antonio. Following a run-in with one of the Sisters, Barbara learned of an opening at the Foundation and knew deep down serving others was her true calling.
Celebrating her 26th work anniversary this December was just another day for Barbara because every day is just as special as the last.

“What has stuck with me the most is the rich history of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Following the request of Bishop Claude Dubuis, the three young Sisters would go against all odds and start a hospital in a completely remote area to care for the sick in accordance with the Healing Ministry of Jesus Christ. Truly, we serve an incredible mission.”
Barbara believes that it is the Foundation team who represents the core of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa, working together for a common goal: our mission.
Join us in celebrating Barbara’s incredible 26 years of service. Thank you, Barbara, for pushing us all to be the very best versions of ourselves.
