Gift from Santikos Foundation Helps The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation Surpass Campaign Goal

On Tuesday, we received incredible news that The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation was chosen as one of eight recipients of a grant from the John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation. The $2.5 million gift will help advance the Hospital’s comprehensive pediatric medical program by providing funds to expand and enhance pediatric trauma services at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. We are so grateful!

“This is extraordinary and exciting and we are so grateful for this gift from the John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation. Our work continues for the children whom we are privileged to serve,” said John Bel, president, The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. “There is so much more we can and will do to bring life-saving and health restoring care to our children. Until there are no children who need our help, we need the support from our community.”

“As the overall population in our city continues to grow, the number of children seeking medical care rises, and this generous gift will help us provide care for the most fragile in our community – our children,” said Ray R. Carvajal, Chairman of the Board for The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation. “We are grateful to the John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation and the commitment they have made to our community and look forward to honoring his legacy at The Children’s Hospital.”

One year ago, in November 2015, The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation announced the public phase of its Putting Children First campaign, with a goal to raise $80 million before December 31, 2016 to transform the downtown campus into the city’s first freestanding children’s hospital.  With this gift from the Santikos Foundation, the Putting Children First campaign total has surpassed $83.2 million!

“We have so many people and organizations to thank,” added Carvajal. “The generosity and support for this project for the children in our community have been tremendous. We are grateful for the support and thank all the donors for their generosity and investment in our children.”
