The Power of a Gift

Dr. Albert Sanders is a longtime pediatrician in San Antonio, specializing in orthopedics with a focus on scoliosis. He began treating patients at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio (formerly Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital) in 1966 and continued his practice until he retired in 2010.

Dr. Sanders continues his involvement with The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio today, serving as an influential member of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Sanders knows firsthand how important it is to have a freestanding Children’s Hospital in our community. He and his wife of 59 years, Shirley, elected to include The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio in their estate plan with a specific bequest.

“We decided to include The Children’s Hospital in our estate plan because we truly believe it will be the best use of our money and assets,” said Dr. Sanders. “I am inspired by the dedication of the founding Sisters and the work they did for so many years taking care of children, regardless of social status. I am proud that dedication continues today.”

Estate gifts have a lasting impact. As the last, best gift of a lifetime, it can be a wonderful way to ensure your life’s work carries on for a cause that is close to your heart.

“The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio is the only freestanding, non-profit academic Children’s Hospital in the area and we truly believe it will remain the leader in children’s health care for years to come,” Dr. Sanders added. “As longtime supporters of our community, I can’t think of a better way to spend our money than to give it to The Children’s Hospital.
