Pink Week in San Antonio!

Thstarse San Antonio Stars will host their annual Breast Health Awareness (BHA) Night presented by CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System on Saturday, August 8 at 7 p.m. at the Freeman Coliseum. The Stars will host the Seattle Storm on a one-of-a-kind pink court while wearing specially-made pink jerseys. In support of BHA Night, a series of special events, dubbed “Pink Week,” will help raise awareness for breast health issues and celebrate breast cancer survivors leading up to Saturday’s game. The first 5,000 fans attending BHA night will receive pink glow sticks and have an opportunity to show their support in the fight against breast cancer during the game presentation. In addition, the first 1,500 fans will receive a CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System BHA First Aid Kit.

Following the game, the players will auction their jerseys live, on-court, with proceeds benefiting Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation in support of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System Mobile Mammography Unit (MMU) and Silver & Black Give Back (SBGB). Last season, the Stars Breast Health Awareness auction raised $42,000.

There are several breast health awareness events happening this week. View a complete list, with links to tickets at SAStars.com.

Those with a touching story to share about a loved one’s fight against breast cancer are asked to tell it on SAStars.com through the Frost Inspiring Women Campaign. One submission will be chosen, and the winner will receive tickets to the game on August 8 and a star named in their honor. Their name will also travel aboard a future NASA mission to outer space.

Throughout “Pink Week,” fans are encouraged to participate on social media as well, using the hash tag #StarsBHA. Those posts will appear on the Stars social wall on SAStars.com.

In keeping with the pink theme, Facebook and Twitter users can also add a special Stars BHA filter to their profile pictures through Twibbon.com. Several fans that use the filter will be selected throughout the week to win prizes.

Other evidence of Stars Breast Health Awareness Night will be seen around San Antonio as the city turns pink to support the cause. The Shops at La Cantera will illuminate the area’s trees and fountains in rose tones throughout the week, and the entrances to North Star Mall will bear the same hue. In addition, the iconic smokestacks at the Alamo Quarry will be lit in pink from August 3-8.

Don’t miss your chance to join the fun!
