Patients from across the country – and even from across the world – travel to San Antonio for treatment at the Gastroenterology (GI) Lab at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Medical Center (CSRH-MC). Led by Sandeep Patel, D.O., the GI lab is a recognized destination for patients requiring advanced gastrointestinal procedures. Dr. Patel and his staff utilize the most advanced technologies to manage patients with complex liver, pancreas, and bile duct disorders.
The Digestive Disease Center is the most technology advanced GI lab in South-Central Texas. CHRISTUS Santa Rosa was one of the first programs in North America to acquire the latest endoscopic ultrasound technology enhancing the ability to detect and diagnose early GI cancers. For patients, this means faster treatment, a reduction in unnecessary procedures and better outcomes.
“We are growing in terms of both programs and personnel. With that growth is an ongoing need for new equipment,” said Patel. “The Friends Foundation supports those needs. We are acquiring advanced technology and have developed a reputation for being one of the best digestive disease centers nationwide. There are still many service lines that we want to develop, but everything requires funding.”
Through the efforts of the Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospitals in the Texas Medical Center, at Westover Hills and in New Braunfels have been able to enhance programs, provide new equipment and support outreach efforts.
