Last April, the Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels Development Council held the first Harleys & Habits Motorcycle Fun Run event. Having 59 bikes with 78 participants on the morning of Harleys & Habits was cause for celebration and it was even more exciting to see dozens of other spectators come out to the Main Plaza in New Braunfels to see the Parade of Sisters. The sight of the Sisters of the Charity of the Incarnate Word riding on the backs of motorcycles and in sidecars was uplifting and the energy of the spectators validated the success of the first motorcycle fun run.
Following the Parade of Sisters, the riders were off on a 70-mile route through the Texas Hill Country, stopping at designated spots along the way and ending at Gruene Harley-Davidson for the wrap-up party featuring music from Backwater Blvd. and Aaron Stephenson. When all was calculated, proceeds from the first Harleys & Habits event totaled to $18,500.
“It was truly amazing to see the community come together for this event to support CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels,” said Stephanie Krueger, director of development for the Friends Foundation. “We are looking forward to our next Harleys & Habits event and hope for even more participation in our second year.”
